Started doodling around in Photoshop earlier today, because I just couldn't get around to work on the pictures I've already started, and this is the result. It's not too refined, but it's not supposed to be either (the neck is one example). The white parts to the left is reflections on the window - but this is in the middle ages, when glass weren't as smooth and clear as it is today. She is leaning on the window, in case you could not tell.

This is a so far nameless woman. She is married to Chuevo (or Chouzo - I can't remember which name I ended up choosing). He is a warlord, or whatever I should call it, and frequently goes to war and travel around with his troops. Meanwhile, his wife stays behind in the castle, without the man she loves so much and who she feels safe with, to worry about whether or not he is alive, or dead or seriously wounded. Does he think of her? Is he in danger? Will he come home soon? Will everything be alright soon? What will happen if he dies? Will the troops that are in the castle, still protect her? What if war comes to his land, to her, now that he is away? What will she do then? Will she ever find someone new to love if he dies, and will anyone have her, wife that she is of a man who is a warlord, a mercenary, and a sorcerer? What if he would die and she wouldn't be around to say goodbye?

PS. I haven't found a name for her yet - actually it's just now that I figured out who exactly she is. I pictured her as married to a warlord, but I didn't realise that that warlord might as well be Chuevo - even though he's taken over the role of the warlord I originally planned. Or originally... Chuevo was in the first draft. Anyway. I have a long list of names, but it's so hard to make up my mind - can you give me a letter (or a syllable) you somehow think fits her? Usually I picture the name pretty fast, but not this time.

Edit: Why the hell don't it show the right colours? True that Photoshop really fucks up the colours, but I should believe that when I have assigned a colour profile, it would stick to that. It's impossible to know how it will turn out now! This doesn't look remotely like the picture as I can see it in Photoshop. It's less blue for one thing. Seems like I didn't need to do all the colour adjustments on my other pictures since it apparently ignores the colour profile anyway. The hair ranges from a golden brown (the darkest part) to slightly pink, and it looks much softer. Sorry about that - I'll try to figure it out...

Edit number two: I figured out the settings in Photoshop and changed the colours for the workspace, so now it works together with the rest of my programs and so on. This said, I decided to try to find the original look of the picture by adjusting the colours, and I think I came at least close to it. I uploaded that piece in my scraps, and I'd really like opinions on which one is the best of them. Personally I think it has a softer look. You can find it here: [link]

Cool, I made a search with the words 'The sad sorcerer' for some reason and found this one. I'm glad I did. Really good work on that worried expression. I like it.

Beautiful hair, and I love the far-off look in her eyes...
Her shawl(I think its that) has a lovely texture, you can almost feel it.

The poor girl, the whole mood, her little face, makes me feel sorry for her- she looks so fragile, and innocent.

It's just the look I tried to give her, so I'm happy that you think so.

Really? I think that's the best compliment I've gotten in quite a while :D But the skin colours are some of the best I've ever made (and in Photoshop too - I didn't really think I could do that in that program... =P ) Very, very glad to hear I have improved :D

Thank you very much - I'm still practicing not to make the hair look stiff, and various hair textures - it could have been better, but I've definitely painted worse hair than this... =P Thanks a lot :)

I like this! The nose is very good :) I might want to take a little from the back of her head and add it to the top, however. But I think it's a good picture overall!

Oooh, Photoshop screwing up the colors? Just a question, but are you using Save or Save for Web? That might point to the reason for the difference. I've seen my pictures in Photoshop much more saturated than they ever look when posted because of that difference.

Thanks! I was a bit worried after I uploaded it that maybe the nose was a bit off, but hopefully it's just me =P I agree that there's a little much on the back of her head and too little on top - my usual mistake... :)

The colours are different no matter what I do. It's like what I see on the screen is nowhere similar to how it really looks, in a way. I have tried both saving options, but it just won't help. I've changed the colour settings of the working space now though, so even if the picture itself might not be restored to how it looked, at least future pictures will look similar to everywhere else... I hope.
