The Stranger at the Inn

Imagine you live in a village in a fantasy world. You are just finished with a hard day of work in your fields, and are heading towards your favourite inn. You know all the people here, except the travellers, even though it's a rather large village from your point of view, and the innkeeper is round and friendly. As you walk through the door, you notice at once that the atmosphere is slightly different. A traveller, you immediately think, while your eyes dart around to see where he or she is.
In the corner you see him, polishing his sword. In front of him there's a mug of ale and a so far untouched plate of food. You start to walk towards him, your mouth forming a friendly smile, but his eyes make you stop. They are clearly unfriendly. "Leave me alone," they say. He continues to look at you for a moment, while you look at him. You cannot really place him in any country or group, something that bothers you a bit. Many people travel through this village, you usually can tell where everyone is from. But not this guy. And the signals he sends out are confusing.
Take the clothing, for example. Rather plain, except from the embroideries. It seems to be an elvish pattern - the flame-like tongues along the edge is something you have seen before. But to the right of each flame, where the house symbols should normally be, there are instead three similar lines in orange. You don't know of any house with that symbol, and you cannot recall any elvish house that even looks like it. And the colours. Orange and other earthly colours. Not the kind of colours the elves prefer to use. It can be dark elvish, but even they... Most important of all, it is the man. Clad in elvish clothing, it has been clear by the first look that he is no elf. Not even half. You have never seen a human wearing any clothing with that obvious pattern before. And under the embroidery - seemingly made before the embroidery itself - is two letters. They are in the elvish alphabeth, but you can read it. A.S. What can that mean?
You sit down with your friends and take a sip of the innkeeper's excellent brew. When you turn your head to look at the man again, he is gone, only an empty plate and a mug left at the table.


Well, this is what I did instead of studying today. I have gone through my pictures today, and I have found several I want to work on. This was originally just a face that I had worked on, but I couldn't place the eyes and the whole thing stopped. I did the rest today, but as you can tell the background is pretty rushed, and there are some places on the character that isn't so refined. The leather thing (whatever it's called) looks too flat. It's supposed to be quite stiff, however, acting as simple, lightweight armour, which is why it doesn't wrinkle.
And yes. He's a new character. But which story does he belong to? Who is he? What is his role?
As you can tell, lots of stuff are happening with my story/ies nowadays.
