Prelude to a kiss

Description

Well, second try of submitting this... (My browser froze the last time...) I should have copied down what I wrote here.

Anyway... "Kiss" is finished. Except it isn't really a kiss. But I like it. It was originally just a sketch, so it's still very unrefined in some places. I didn't want to lose the emotion in it. And... yes. They're two men. (*oh no! She's one of them!* well... depends.)

Aaand... I'm back to using Painter! Oh joy - I loved it. But actually - even though it's only been under a month, it took some getting used to.

The characters are Cephal (the elf) and Naodh (the human) and both was present in the first draft of my Tales of Charbakin. They both disappeared, because the new story is set much later, and though the original story still happened, they both got killed off before the new starts. So you won't see them again... (oh no! *sniff*) ...and sorry for my weird mood - it must be that I'm not used to making this kind of pictures... ;)

"Cephal would wake in the night, almost breathless when he saw Naodh's still features. Was he only breathing silently? Did he breathe? He would stare at the young boy for what seemed to him as an eternity, his eyes intent and on the verge of panicking, before he heard or felt Naodh's breath. He would then, tears in his eyes and a pain in his heart, stroke his hand through the young boy's hair, taking in his beautiful and boyish, yet masculine features. His prominent nose. His full, relaxed lips that his own longed to kiss. His closed eyes that, when open, had an intense shade of green. He would then stay like this until Naodh, who slept very lightly, awoke by the light stream of breath to his face. Naodh would smile, but the shade of pain and sadness would linger in his eyes when he gently would slide his arm around Cephal's neck.
They both remembered that night - it had been so close. They had fallen asleep, so content and relieved that Cephal's small family had accepted his choice of life partner. True, there were quite a few who did not approve of the lover of the silver prince, brother of the heir of the ancient, noble line of elves. However, they were only fanatics, they would say to eachother, and had nothing to say. Friends warned them of how it would be when Naodh grew old and died, but many others warned of the need for the line to stay pure, Cephal's own morals to stay intact, and they also showed that deep disgust for humans. They would, however, never speak to Naodh. That night - the fourth night in his home - Cephal has awoke in the middle of the night by someone slamming the door. Naodh was not breathing, but floating between life and death. Luckily there was a healer there, and Cephal spent days and weeks, even months, nursing Naodh back to health. Neither of them could forget. The offender had not been caught, and they very well knew it could happen again. Fanatics rarely put down neither their swords or their anger."

Not the best-written story, but it gives you the general picture... ;) Hope you like!

This is a lovely piece. I can see the emotion in his eyes. Well done.
