Healing Powers

Alternative title: Opposite forces.

"...and the witch stretched out her old hand towards the gentle flower. Carefully, almost fearfully, she touched the fragile leaves. As she did so, she could see her wrinkles slowly fading away. Her bones grew strong again and her eyes grew clear. She felt the healing powers fill the very core of her being. A tear slid down her now smooth and beautiful cheek. She felt the burden of her life lift from her, the punishment from her deeds end. For the first time in her life, she felt completely free. And yet - she removed her hand slowly. The little, precious flower turned its petals towards the light for the last time before it shriveled up and died."



A little, Ayamarian flower with some very special powers. You have seen it before; it's in my website logo and generally it's the flower I draw when drawing flowers. It's also one of the symbols of the elves.

Partially a practice on drawing hands, partially a doodle and partially a quick picture. And partially a concept one. I originally planned it just to be a little sketch of hands, to practice, but it grew on me. In my mind it grew quite strong. I'm glad I didn't refine it (I planned to), because I think it would have taken away a lot of the feeling behind it. But I got a lot of confidence from it; I can draw hands if I want... The background's very sketchy, but it's just there to fill it up.

Made in between 1/2 and one hour, with the Glazing Round Oils brush, 10 px, in Painter. First picture I've ever finished with only one brush, only one size. It was fun!
